A strong local economy is essential to our quality of life. We have been very fortunate over the past 100 years to have been able to build upon our wonderful agricultural heritage with the strong and abiding federal presence of Aberdeen Proving Ground and Edgewood Arsenal; as your Senator and councilman I have enjoyed a close working relationship with our federal partners.
We also gain so much from the many small businesses that enrich our quality of life. My record in the Senate, County Council, and Town of Bel Air Board has been one of strong commitment to the success of our small and medium businesses. As a former mayor and councilman for Bel Air, I worked tirelessly to restore a vibrant retail community in the historic downtown which has since grown from two restaurants to a dozen or more. At a time when the Bel Air Armory was not available for public use, I approached the National Guard with the idea of turning it over to the Town as a community and events center, roles it so very successfully serves to this day.
I spent many hours in high school and college working on farms throughout Harford County and I still help putting up hay for my farmer friends. I know first hand the immense challenges our farmers face and I will work hard to keep agriculture a strong and vibrant part of our County’s economy.
